Ever since we had the Warm Sour Cream Apple Pie at Slightly North of Broad, I’ve been waiting for a chance to recreate it. I figured that Memorial Day was a great opportunity to give it a try, especially since our family along with a few of our aunts, uncles, and cousins all go down to our beach house for Memorial Day weekend.
By combining parts of recipes from Martha Stewart for the crust, apple pie filling from Dede Wilson, and my mom’s apple pie’s crumb topping, we ended up with a pretty great apple pie that was a mix of our traditional apple pie along with a very delicious custard. While this pie doesn’t quite live up to the one that inspired it, our pie was still delicious and we’ll definitely be making it again.
