Since Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer, it’s finally time to break out those fruity cocktails that everyone loves (even if you don’t want to admit it). While I love a good fruity cocktail, I am not a fan of overly sweet drinks. That is why I love this adult fruit smoothie recipe. It’s made with only four ingredients: white rum, pineapple, strawberry, and ice.
All of the sweetness comes from the fruit itself and so you don’t end up with a sickeningly sweet drink. April through June is also the peak of strawberry season, which means you can get affordable berries. Depending on where you live you may even be able to find them at your local farmers market or go to a farm where you can pick your own. If you want to get fancy and serve these drinks in a pineapple like I did, it’s a lot simpler than you may think to make a pineapple cup if you have the right tools. I used a pineapple corer, slicer, peeler to remove the pineapple from it’s skin. Then I just had to cut the core out in order to turn the pineapple into a cup!
The best part about this recipe is you can change out the fruit depending on what you like and what’s in season. Just make sure that whatever you pick is ripe and sweet or else you’ll end up with a tart drink. What’s your favorite type of adult fruit smoothie to make?
